Apps Behavior during maintenance window

Envoy Visitors Kiosk

The Envoy Web Dashboard and associated products will be in maintenance mode during the window.

During the maintenance

  • Admins won’t be able to pair an iPad.
  • If already paired, the app won’t display any error messages on the Welcome screen.
  • When launching the app, it will load the last config file from the local storage.

What does this mean?

Offline Sign in

During the maintenance, Visitors will be able to sign in if these features are not enabled:

  • “Block list”
  • “Pre-Registration Required”
  • “ID Scanning”

When a visitor signs in, the entry will be stored locally and, if enabled, a badge will be printed. There is no limit of how many entries can be saved locally. The app will try to upload an entry every 10 seconds until the backend is back online.

If “Block list” or “Pre-Reg required” are enabled

Visitors won’t be able to sign in. This error message will be displayed on the final screen:

  • “An error occurred. Sign in is temporarily unavailable. - Please alert the front desk for assistance ”

If “ID Scanning” is enabled

Visitor won’t be able to sign in. An error message will be displayed on the ID scanning screen:

  • “Barcode was unreadable - Please present your ID to the front desk”

Unavailable features:

Pairing Admins won’t be able to pair new devices

Passport Pictures of visitors using the Passport app won’t be displayed on the Welcome screen.

Sign out When searching for a name, this message will be displayed: “We couldn’t find you!”

Integrations When sign-in during the maintenance, integrations won’t work. For example, Notifications and Wi-Fi credentials will not be sent.

After the maintenance:

  • All entries will be uploaded from the iPads locally to Envoy’s backend.
  • Hosts will only recieve notifications if an entry is 5 minutes old or less.

Deliveries Kiosk App

During the maintenance

  • Users won’t be able to mark a package as picked up.
  • When the app is launched, it will display the loading screen.
  • If the app is already launched, no error messages will be displayed but users won’t be able to find packages and mark them as picked up.

After the maintenance

  • The app will need to be restarted.

Deliveries Mobile App

During the maintenance

  • Users won’t be able to scan packages.
  • The app will show an error message: “Unable to connect - Try again”

After the maintenance

  • The app will need to be restarted.

Passport for iOS and Android

Envoy recommends not using the apps as most functionality will be offline.
