Cisco Meraki integration

In this article

Cisco Meraki is the leader in cloud controlled Wi-Fi, routing and security. Cisco Meraki provides devices and software to help businesses manage Wi-Fi network access for employees and guests.

How does this integration work?

Upon sign-in, visitors will receive an email or text message directing the visitor to visit an Envoy-hosted guest Wi-Fi splash page. This page will display Wi-Fi access instructions, along with network and password details. The unique credentials created for each visitor are valid for 24 hours.

Note: For this integration to work, you must collect either visitor email addresses or phone numbers at sign-in. Learn more about how to configure your Envoy sign-in fields.

Enabling the Envoy + Meraki integration

  1. Go to Integrations > All integrations.
  2. Under Wi-Fi, find Cisco Meraki and click “Install.”
  3. Under Splash page URL, copy the full URL that begins with https://app.envoy.com. Meraki
  4. Log into Cisco Meraki. Go to Dashboard > Wireless > Configure > Access Control > SSID. Meraki
  5. Select your desired SSID from the dropdown. Set the Association Requirements to ‘Open’ and the Splash Page to ‘Click Through’. Meraki
  6. Recommended: Configure Cisco Meraki to popup the Wi-Fi splash page automatically. To do so, you’ll need to configure the walled garden settings. Here’s how:
    • On the Dashboard > Wireless > Configure > Access Control > SSID page, scroll down to the Walled Garden. Select ‘Walled garden enabled’ from the dropdown.
    • In the Walled garden ranges field, type app.envoy.com
    • Contact Cisco Meraki support. Request that they enable walled garden by domain name. Typically, this field only accepts static IP addresses but they can manually configure this for you.
  7. In Cisco Meraki, go to Wireless > Configure > Splash Page > Custom URL. Meraki
  8. Under Custom splash URL, paste the splash page URL you had copied from Envoy. Meraki
  9. In Envoy, click “Next step.”
  10. Enter the name of the guest Wi-Fi network to which your guests will connect.
  11. Add your logo (optional). If you’d like your logo to appear on your splash page and in the email visitors receive, you’ll add a logo here.
    1. In the Custom logo field, provide the full URL for your hosted logo (including http://).
    2. In Cisco Meraki, list the domain where your logo is hosted in the Walled Garden section.
  12. Add a custom message (optional.) You can showcase a custom message on your splash page.
    1. In the Welcome message field, type your desired message. You can format the message using markdown.
  13. Send guest Wi-Fi credentials to hosts (optional.) This is useful when visitors do not have easy access to email or text messages or if they are not required to enter their email address or phone number at sign in.
  14. Click “Complete setup.”

What is the visitor experience with the Envoy + Cisco Meraki integration?

  • When a visitor signs in, they will provide their email address and/or phone number. The visitor will receive an email or SMS with instructions on how to access your Wi-Fi.
  • When they follow the instructions in the email or SMS, they will be directed to the Envoy-hosted splash page. There, they’ll enter the password and will connect to Wi-Fi.
